Woodside Hill - Winemaker Michael Wood

We first met Mike when he was working for Passage Rock in 2005. We were thinking about planting the vineyard the next year. Mike has been our mentor for everything – grape selection, rootstock selection, vineyard layout, trellising, appropriate suppliers, selection of winery equipment, barrel selection and winemaking techniques. We’ve been very lucky to find someone so skilled who knew about the appropriate techniques for Waiheke Island and how to get the best out of our site. Mike isn’t as busy with us as he used to be but he still makes our critical winemaking calls. We hope you like the result as much as we do.
